This site is used in general for the nature deficit disorder that I suffer in my windowless work space.  It is hardly a substitute for the real thing but it will have to suffice until the National Park Service demands that I come work for them.

  1. Great list! I’m in the middle of Walden right now – for the fifth or sixth time. I’ve not read any Teale but maybe I’ll get there sometime. Any particular recommendation?

    • My personal favorite is Dune Boy because it tells the story of Teale’s childhood summers spent at his grandparents farm in Furnessville, IN. I grew up and still live within 15 minutes of this location so I found it interesting to see how so much has changed. I also like his book A Naturalist Buys an Old Farm. Cheers!

      • Thanks a lot! Hopefully I get a chance to check one of them out in the near future.
